Boots - Part II

Here are some photos of some of the boots available from DeeR. These are photos of some of our balmoral boots.

Like the elastic sided boots I displayed in an earlier post, the design of this shoe developed around the turn of the 20th Century but like most of the great items of mens wear disappeared from the mass market and became an item reserved to custom made footwear or those who could afford it. Until now.

Enjoy.

Black Punched Captoe

A simple black balmoral style shoe with a row of brogueing along the cap toe.

Brisbane Street Style - Chance Encounter With DeeR customer

I was wandering through the city today when I came across this well dressed young man wearing some DeeR shoes.

I am over exaggerating a little. This was not some random occurrence.  The above photo is of James who is a DeeR customer. He has currently two pairs of DeeR custom shoes. James is studying at university and works part-time at a mens store.

He is a pretty talented kid and quite stylish too and not only due to his choice in footwear.

The sunglass frames remind me of the ones worn by Robert Deniro's character in the movie Casino. If you haven't seen the movie its the movie where De Niro plays a mob connected Jewish gambler called Ace Rothstein and Joe Pesci plays his psychotic little friend and sidekick.  I wont say much more than that as I would be giving away too much of the plot. Just hire the movie and enjoy it.

I will leave this post with a parting photo of James wearing some DeeR ankle boots.

Boots - Elastic Sided - Part 1

I'm posting a design of a boot you don't usually see in ready-to wear designs.  I don't know the exact name for this boot. However I've seen this boot from a few illustrations from the turn of the 20th Century and again from the 1920s and early 1930s. Somewhere along the way it disappeared into obscurity to be replaced by the duckbilled bicycle toe loafer and jester faux reptilian shoes that have become so prevalent in today's fashion.

The design of the boot is essentially the same as a chelsea boot however there is a seam (or throatline) at the area between the upper part of the vamp and where you normally have the show laces (throat). The model pictures is on a wide chisel toed last. But again as it is a custom made shoe this can be produced on a variety of different toe and last shapes.  I will be posting various styles of boots including the traditional chelsea boot which makes like RM Williams are famous for.

Trunk Show - Quay West Hotel - November 12

Time to start packing the suit cases and boxes to get ready for our next trunk show. This time it will be held at The Quay West Hotel located in Alice St, opposite the Brisbane Botanical Gardens.

As usual we will be there with tape measures and pens in hand to trace the contours of your feet.

This will be an event not to be missed.

The DeeR experience. Mens Shoes

The classic mens shoes. The inspiration behind these shoes is that timeless classic style of the 1930s. I would say that virtually anything worn in that decade you could wear now and not feel out of place. The only thing that would probably make you seem a little bit off would be the fedora  hat.

Partial proceeds of sale will be donated to Habitat for Humanity which is a great charity which is a non-govermental, non profit organization devoted to building "simple, decent, and affordable" housing.
